Watch out for this place with systematic fraud through "incorrect fuel tank meters". So many more ethical car rentals around, never again this place!

My family and I booked a car and received an email instructing us to turn up at Avis at 10am to collect the car. We had to hire a taxi at a cost of 40 Euros and we arrived at the Avis for 10am to be told that there was no car for us and it had been cancelled because Avis did not wish to rent a car that would be dropped at another location (not true, as the online booking form accepted our request). The man and woman at Avis were extremely rude and told us that they had sent me an email cancelling the vehicle, this was not true, in fact I received the email date stamped at 17:13hrs after returning to our Air B+B accommodation which cost a further 40 Euros . The man at Avis did not offer us any resolution and said he could not speak English, he spoke a little English and I speak a little French, we could have had a discussion if he so wished. To conclude, because the appalling service we received from this Branch of Avis, and lack of compensation, I would not recommend that any tourist do business with this branch of Avis.

Avoid this place. The manager is rude and over charges for minor damage. Does not respond to emails, simply refers on to UK customer service, who have subsequently suggested I deal direct with St Malo.

The man in the rental office was extremely unfriendly, borderline aggressive at some points. I was initially informed via email that my deposit would be €110, the man demanded €750 before I talked him down to €500. My pick up time was 10am, I got a distressed call from him on the day, telling me that he had to be at the train station for 10am so I had to hurry up. I arrived at 9.30am and he was in such a rush, I did not feel respected at all, in fact quite the opposite. Upon returning, he was still in a miserable mood, tried to "accidentally" only return €150 of my €500 deposit and was not apologetic at all. Would never rent from avis again based purely on that experience as, as a customer to a business, I never want to experience customer service like that again

Just wanted to say a big public thank you to the people at this branch. My partner left his wallet in the car we hired, and we didn't discover this until we were at the ferry port, about to board the ferry. They sent one of their mechanics with it after we rang them- phew!
